This is the BEST place I've ever gone for genealogy stuff - I've been there in person and it's AMAZING and it's free. Here's their online site, stuffed with resources from the US and other countries. There's a page on Wales with parish and family records, etc; pages on every state in the US, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, you name it.

I found that the Library of Congress also has a guide to researching British Isles genealogy at the LOC and other libraries:

"Family Ties in England, Scotland, Wales, & Ireland: Sources for Genealogical Research, a 108-page guide, has been published to assist researchers who come to the Library of Congress or other large institutions with similar collections to research family roots in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales. The Library's collection of local history and genealogical material for the British Isles and Ireland is second only to those genealogical holdings related to the United States.

"Compiled by Judith P. Reid, head of the Library's Local History and Genealogy Reading Room, the softcover guide includes 425 bibliographical entries to categories of information such as Handbooks, Pedigrees and Family Histories, Bibliographies, Local History, Biographical Information, Maps, Atlases and Gazetteers, Personal and Geographical Names, Periodicals, and, for Scotland, Clans and Tartans. An author and title index supplements the bibliographical contents of the guide."

And all only $5.50 + $3.50 S&H, not bad for 108 pages of LOC goodness!

FYI, I'm a member on Ancestry.com and have access to their member's only files. At this point the censuses for Wales from 1851 to 1901 are online and indexed (as well as England and some Scotland and all the US censuses from 1790 to 1930). I'd be happy to do lookups for Americymru members - as long as I'm not overwhelmed with requests.

Wow, that's really cool - I'm not that far yet (I don't have names) but this is a very nice and generous offer - do you mind if I put an announcement in the feed on the front page?

I am also a subscriber to Ancestry.com I'd also be happy to do lookups for census records for fellow members in the UK and US. This could help in not overwhelming Gregg as well.

I'd like to add one more site. I've been working with someone up in Angelsey who has provided me with 15 free minutes of research. After that it's a paid service, but its a reasonable rate and far cheaper than airfare and hotel. She's already helped me immensly. ARCHIVES@anglesey.gov.uk

Does anyone know where I can find some help for Caernavonshire?

I'd like to invite anyone with interest in genealogy to visit a fairly new site called FamilySearch Wiki. I think the best portion is at https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/Wales but I am biased. Most other countries are included. There are a lot of different helps there for the beginning and experienced genealogist. Americymru is even noted in the news secton.
