Last night I happened upon mention of my ancestor John Jones of Plas Deon in the book Clych Atgof by O. M. Edwards (available online). For a long while I've wondered if O. M. Edwards had any connection to members of our family (having seen the statue in Llanwchllyn). Are there others out there who have ancestors from Llanuwchllyn and/or Bala? If so, it might be worth looking through O.M. Edward's writings (in Welsh). I would of course love to hear about these connections also.

Hello Ned, I know my great grandfather Edward Owen or Owens, who came to Patagonia in 1874 was born in a place called Ty Ucha/f, in Llanderfel, very close to Bala, Ty Ucha is a farm, and the house is still there. Hwyl

Claudio, That's really interesting. I stayed at a farm in Llanfor nearby Llanderfel last I was in Wales. I wonder if the Bala area is represented disproportionately by the immigrants to Patagonia (Michael D. Jones for instance). Do you know any distant family in the area?

Peace

Hi Ned, two sons of Michael D. Jones, Bodiwan, emigrated to Patagonia, Llwyd ap Iwan and Mihangel ap Iwan, Llwyd was killed by two Butch Cassidy gang bandits, a great loss in the moment for the welsh in Patagonia, he was a very clever and energic man who supported the emigration and development of the Wladfa in Argentina. He had children and there are descendants now in Argentina, many of them maybe don't know this fact.
I don't know by now others families in the area, welsh emigrants to Patagonia were of differents areas of Wales. I have a little story: When I start to research about my ancestors I found out that one of my great grandmothers, Elizabeth Jones, came in the first ship that landed in Patagonia at age of 4, when I asked my father, he answered me "You are kidding!", he didn´t know he was a descendant of the first settlers.
