Thanks Iain,
How about:
Sweet Singer of great renown - frothy dawn - 10
Remarkable, Loving, Wise - 6
Life of sadness and confined - 7
Here incoherent in the sand - 7

but it does not really keep rhyme or Cynghanedd totally.

Ashley in resonse to yuor comment below I have done something provisional-it is not definitive these things never are....but its a starting point I feel

Sweet singer of versemakers-dawn's foam
Remarkable, loving , enabling,
In life awry and captive of being
Here in sand, silence speaking

I am needing help with a Englyn Unodl Union (Straight one-rhymed englyn) that I have found on a headstone in North Wales. This type of Englyn consists of 4 lines of 10-6-7-7 syllables. The seventh, eighth or ninth syllables of the first line introduce the rhyme and this is repeated on the last syllable of the other three lines. It also uses Cynghanedd, which is the basic concept of sound arrangement within one line, using stress, alliteration and rhyme.
The poem is:
Rhymes:
Cantores ber gleryglod, gwawr ewyn
Gall garuaidd hynod
Chwith y byw a chaeth o'i bod
Yma'n tewi mewn tywod.

Cynghanedd:
Cantores ber gleryglod, gwawr ewyn
Gall garuaidd hynod
Chwith y byw a chaeth o'i bod
Yma'n tewi mewn tywod

Is any one able to translate this Englyn & still keep the syllable count, rhyme & Cynghanedd in the translation?

Thank you Emyr for explaining that. I had seen it before, but I could not remember where.

Aquafortis: diolch am eich neges. Yn bersonol wn i ddim am unrhyw beth o'r fath. Oes gennych chi syniadau pellach? [I've no idea of whether anything like this is available yet - does anybody else have ideas?]

Tam: diolch am y fideo. Perhaps it should be put in the "Pronunciation" thread (or in a "numbers" thread on its own). It's too big for this comments column, I think. Perhaps you could shift it to somewhere more suitable? A shame it doesn't demonstrate the non-decimal counting system as well (un ar ddeg, deuddeg, etc.); it's easy to forget that they have to be learned as well (or instead - there's actually little need for the decimals up to about 30 or so).

Aled, I enjoyed the e-mail you sent with ideas for the group. I was especially intrigued by the thought of a wiki-style project. It occurred to me to ask whether anything like a Welsh learners' resource wiki already exists or not, somewhere on the web. Does anybody know?

Mae'n bleser, Dian (it's a pleasure)

(For those who might be wondering: Dian's comment refers to the discussion group Request a Phrase).

Diolch yn fawr, Aled. I can now email my cousins in Wales at least partly in Welsh!
