Three Word Stories

Bookmark and Share

Following on from the success of our Three word story on our old Joomla Forum we thought it might be fun to launch a few more collaborative episodes from the "New Mabinogion". Anyone wishing to start a new three word story should a add a discussion ( below ) including a picture ( between 30 and 40kb, if you need help reducing the image size let us know and we will do it for you ) and submit the first three words to get the ball rolling. There are only a few simple rules:-

1. Each three word entry must consist of only ( wait for it! ) three words.

2. Contributors must allow at least 3 persons to contribute before adding more text.

3. An attempt should be made to construct a grammatical and meaningful ( simultaneously grotesque and nonsensical ) narrative. Contributions which break the narrative sequence or are otherwise out of context might be subject to deletion. Please remember...do not comment on the photographs...reply to the last comment in the thread. Here is an example to get the ball rolling:- Welsh Border Patrol. You will find this in the discussions listed below on this page.

4. We aim ( loosely ) to construct stories of between 300 and 600 words depending on how popular each story becomes.

5. Some of the above rules are rules of optional enforcement . If you start a thread its up to you to manage it. No more than four threads per person at a time please.

Have Fun!

Short Story of The Day

Bartleby the Scrivener - by Herman Melville

Bartleby, the Scrivener.

A Story of Wall-street.

I AM a rather elderly man. The nature of my avocations for the last thirty years has brought me into more than ordinary contact with what would seem an interesting and somewhat singular set of men, of whom as yet nothing that I know of has ever been written:--I mean the law-copyists or scriveners. I have known very many of them . . .read more

btw...is Year New Good a literal translation of Blwyddyn Newydd Dda or an example of how getting things out of sequence might actually be a cosmic improvement....or both:)

LOL...yeah but I'm scratching a hole in my head trying to do the summaries:) Anyhoo I was wondering what anyone thought about selecting a few of our more venerable sagas and devising rules to guide them toward their thrilling denoument. I guess we could announce that certain stories must be completed in say, 20 posts and then see if our collective bardic wizardry can devise an ending. Might be fun?

And we certainly wouldn't want that! LOL! Actually, as much of a pain as it is when things get out-of-sequence...in the wide scope of thngs, who can tell??? It might actually be a cosmic improvement.....

Year New Good, Susanne!

Stories Out of Sequence?

After diligent research I have ascertained that the sequence problem with the stories in the group is caused by a time lag when a number of people are posting at once. A solution to this might be to try to 'repair' the narrative. This could be done by replying to earlier posts in an attempt to 'connect them up' where the narrative thread has been lost. Quite an artistic and creative challenge. Nothing of course for a crack team of bards such as we have assembled in this group.

Please note: Probably not a good idea to attempt this unless the narrative has come unhinged. It could go horribly wrong:)

no happy prejudice-free and turkey-free and animal-free Thanksgiving? Somehow I know what Blwyddyn Newydd Dda means. HappyNew Year, or Happy good year??

Diolch and might I be the first (quirks permitting) to wish all a Nadolig Llawen and Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, if not Happy Easter!

Hi...basically you need to go back to the first page and add there once in a while. If you add a comment and it appears at the beginning of the thread just delete it go back to the first page and add it again and it should appear in the right place. There seems to be a quirk in the program that manifests itself after every 3 or 4 pages but if you persist you will succeed in wrestling it into submission. In the case of individual submissions that are in the wrong place email me and i will try to dynamite them into the proper place. I can also attempt to order things properly when I do the summaries. Hope that helps.

Just a question, I am very interested in the fact that sometimes I add a comment but although when I add it the resultant comment is sometimes out of sequence, Is there a problem with the fact that I'm in Wales i.e. east of the USA and the words are added at night here but not added to until daytime/nightime i.e. p to eight hours later there?
Ceri Shaw Comment by Ceri Shaw on November 22, 2009 at 1:50pm
Not sure....I'll check.

Glad to hear 3WSG is to continue but has something happened to the sequence of some of the comments?
