As a breeder of the only surviving indiginous sheepdog breed of Cymru, "Y Ci Defaid Cymreig (The Welsh Sheepdog) I am facnated to find out if the breed still survives in "Y Wladfa" (Welsh Patagonia) The Werlsh Shepdog is today considered to be a superior working sheepdog to most modern breeds, and is once again THE working breed in Wales ,l and gaining in popularity in the USA!
i would hope tht this breed is still in existtance in Patagonia and if so the "Patagonian Ci Cymreig line " woild be an invaluable asset to the "Gean Pool" of he "Ci defaid cymreig" ( The Welsh Sheepdog) please check out the following links: < en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_Sheepdog,> < www.welsh-sheepdogs.co.uk/ > < www.welsh-sheepdogs-worldwide.com/ - > < www.wildenfarm.btinternet.co.uk/WILDENWELSHSHEEPDOGS.htm > < www.bbc.co.uk/wales/mid/sites/in.../elwy_sheepdog.shtml > www.dogbreedinfo.com/w/welshsheepdog.htm < www.gis.net/~shepdog/BC_Museum/.../WelshSheepDog.html > www.welsh-sheepdogs.co.uk/

Hi everyone!

I am very happy because last month I went to Patagonia. It´s lovely!

I met lots of wonderful people there! Some of them from AmeriCymru! Magali, Ana and Gwyn, it was lovely to meet you!!! I also met Claudio´s cousin!!

The Eisteddfod was great!

I would like to share the pictures I took in Patagonia with you so I will post them soon. I will add some information about the pictures afterwards.

Hope you are well! Take care, Virginia

Hola Pedr. Over here you would have been a "gaucho" working on an "estancia" or "campo". Chacra is the word for farm and this is normally associated with fertile smallish pieces of land (250acres for example). The estancias and campos are found on the Paith (desert, steppe). You would be OK on the gaucho sadlle don't worry. See www.andesceltig.com for info on Y Wladfa.

Sometimes in casual conversation about nothing in particular,
I have been asked if given the chance would I have done anything differently to the way I have in my life so far? would I, for example, have taken any different paths?
I usually answer that I don't do regrets, that is, apart from one, rand that is, that rather than joining the British Army as I did, back in 1965 (I was demobbed in 1970)
I wish instead, that I have travelled to Y Wladfa, Welsh Patagonia, in 65 to worked on a Welsh Ranch? or is it called a farm?
After all, What little boy does not want to be a "Cowboy" ?
I am 62 this December, and I still want to be a Cowboy!
So In the meantime I'll keep working my "Welsh Sheepdogs & Pyrenean Mountain Dogs in preparation for that adventure!
The only reservation I have, is the "Patagonian Saddle", Looking at it, I think that I would have to go "Western"

Fantastico.Le gusto el groupo.
I hope we up in America del Norte can learn from the example of our South American cousins. You all are so fortunate to have a revitalized Gorsedd and Eisteddfod in Patagonia. As we build a North American Gorsedd Association (NAGA), I hope we also will have experiences worth learning from.
