Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I was born in 1947 at Caerleon in South Wales, spending my formative years in the Rhymney Valley and attending Caerleon Teachers’ Training College 1965-1968.
I commenced teaching in Essex, moving on to special needs schools of Dr.Barnardo.
In 1971 I married. My husband, Alistair, is a Scot and, apart from five years in Germany, we have spent most of our married and working lives in Scotland. During the years before my retirement I taught in schools in Wales, Glasgow, East Kilbride and Port Glasgow and on the Isle of Kerrera near Oban. We have lived in Dunoon, Argyll for twenty seven years.

We have three sons; one is married.
As a very mature student in my late forties I attended Glasgow University and obtained an M.A.
I studied Celtic Civilization, Russian, Welsh, German and philosophy.
Around this time [1995] I had my first book published. This book was short-listed for the Tir na n’Og Award in Wales.
I have since had several other books published, most of them related to Wales. Three of the books run in sequence and tell true stories of life in the Welsh Valleys. They cover the years from circa 1914 to the 1960's.
Recently, I completed a book about Robert Burns for children. The book has received a very favourable report from Dr.Carruthers, who is Director for Robert Burns Studies at Glasgow University and the book is to be published next year. I have written several collections of poetry relating to Wales and also have several Welsh related books in the pipeline.
What is your interest in or connection to Wales?
I was born and raised in Wales.I am extremely interested in Welsh history and culture and have had several books published as a result.

Hi, Bronwen,
The children in the photos are my grand-children; I have four now. They all live in the cold, frozen north (Nebraska), which my Dad says was the coldest place he was ever stationed when he was in the Army Air Force.

I will try to look up your books on Amazon...

Cheers,
Mark P.

Welcome, Bronwen. Your profile is very interesting! I was born ten years after you were, and I wish I had been able to accomplish half of what you have.
Cheers,
MBP
