We're heeere! Arrived in Pittsburh about 1 PM, settled in at my Alma Mater,
Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, clas of '91. A little more reasonable than the Hilton, we'll comnute each day, "Don-Tah-n" as the natives say. Hope to see many of you at the festival.

Is there ever an opportunity for a welsh tenor to perform for your society?

Hi Clark and Cindy,

I started a new blog to just talk about my Welsh genealogy search -- only have two entries on it. The URL is http://texascymru.blogspot.com. I used your saying in the last entry and gave credit to you! So, now it is YOUR saying! I am hoping to get back into this site as well as my other blogs and my family research now that the new grandbaby business has settled down.

I don't know if I ever answered your question about my g-grandparents so I will now. If I have given you this info, just disregard and say Melissa is getting old and daft. Anyway, my great-grandmother was Dinah Webb and she was born in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloustershire, circa 1859 or 61 -- can't remember. My great-grandfather was born in Blaina, Wales, about the same time. I started with the Webb's thinking they wouldn't be as daunting as a Davies but now I am just about done with the Webbs for now and thinking about starting on the Davies's so I am waiting for a time where I can sit down and really concentrate because I am sure there are more James Davies's in Wales than I want to even consider! But, it is great fun -- if I can help you in your search let me know.

Glad to meet you too! Your people are close to where my people landed -- Pennsylvania and some ended up in New York. My ggrandparents were "new" immigrants -- at
the turn (or so) of last century. At first I couldn't find much info on them but things are always popping up on the net and it is much easier. I would love to learn the language but fear I would fail miserably at it. I love hearing it though. I love the Welsh proverb -- I might have to borrow it from you!
Thanks for the comment.

Vermont/NY...we moved to CNY and Mr Jones a retired dairy farmer showed me how to milk my little goat. He is very kind to us and just took my husband to work this morning.
There is another family dairy farm down the road. They are Parry's.
We love the rocks on the property. Just yesterday, my husband came back for a walk saying he felt like Fred Flintstone. He had met up with a woodsman on our property and didn't have a pen and paper to write a number down, so they scratched it out on a piece of slate (probably shale here) and he carried it home)
Grace and Peace back to you.

The proverb was one of the first things my baby sister learned when she started learning Welsh a number of years ago; it could have been our family motto growing up.
When I saw it printed here, it was a great feeling to 'hear' her voice in my head saying it and know what it meant.
We grew up in South Jersey USA. The Pennsauken Heritage has some really good info that I haven't availed myself of yet on the Welsh in the area. We were close to Philadelphia, Pa where my great grandfather, David, met his bride on a trolley car.
Williams was my grandmothers maiden name; Perkins is my maiden name.
If I can get my sister and my cousin to visit this site, they have alot more info.
Nice meeting you.

Wow, I love your website! Please pardon my ignorance, but what is that very interesting looking stringed instrument with two tuning heads at your feet?
