yes we did have a lot of snow!! but it had warmed up for the kiddies for trick or treat. we had a wonderful celebration. I love this time of year, but right now my whole barn yard is a big mud hole! one of my dogs was just completely unrecognisable after digging in the mud (after rabbits I gues). glad to hear you had a good Shamain! better late than never! Yewl Tide next. another great time of year! I am getting the lights for decorating out already! we have a contest around here to see who can do the best light display, and I intend to bring home the prise. last year I put some lights on one of my bulls, and set him to graze in my front yard. he was a pretty good sport about it. its going to be hard to top that.

yes we have had some hard freezes as well. killed a bunch of plants that I usually winter in my little hot house. I should have brought them in but I wasn't expecting it to get so cold so soon. oh well live and learn. Looking forward to halloween! hosting a party for little kids around here. I love it!! they are so cute with their little costumes! the kiddies will probably all go home by 8. I'll be having the traditional hill fires.I have been training up my Corgi to drive the cattle(10) between them. I think she can do it. she helped me move them to their fall pasture a couple of days ago. she has more trouble with my soays. they wont heard together the way cows do AND they are much cheekier. I think we'll leave them out of the festival this year.

Happy birthday! you are a fall boy huh? very nice time of year to be celebrating!

do you have cranes flying over where you are? today there is wave after wave of sand hill cranes passing over on their way to texas. the flocks go on for what seems like miles. their calls are filling the air. it was the same yesterday. it is amazing! they pass over every year, but not quite enmass like this year. I think we must be on the edge of their rought because there are a lot less in some years. I never see them going north in the spring. I think they must follow a different rought. I love them! they never land here they just pass by.

happy birthday again!!

Hi again,
hope your doing well! I woke up this morning to a light frost over everything! it was wonderful! I love this time of year. it can realy make you feel the forces of nature at work. the autumn colors are at their finest right now! it is fantastic.

kind of sorry to see the summer go though, I had a bumper crop of peaches this year! other fruit too.But I have late season pears that are probably not going to have enough time to finish before it starts to snow. this year has been very cool and I think winter will be on early. No matter I love winter too!

Thank you for your note, David - I am actually in the USA now. But the weather in Wales is among my favourite things about it - rain, mist, cloud, fog, coolness - with brilliantly clean and sunny days in between. Perfect for a writer! I didn't see any puffins while there - I lived abut 12 miles inland from the Irish Sea.
