Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I'm of Welsh descent (a long time ago) on both my grandmothers' lineages: Jones and Chidlaw (not an original Welsh name, but very Welsh spirit). My great, great, great grandfather is Rev. Benjamin Williams Chidlaw married to Rebecca Hughes, daughter to Ezekiel Hughes. I enjoy learning about the history of Wales and hope to visit some day soon.

My other interest, as well, is researching my Irish roots on my mother's father side. The research I've done on the Athey name goes back to Capt. George Athey/Athy. He arrived in the late 1600s in America.

Since my ancestors have been in America for quite a long time, I'm pretty much a mixed breed of European DNA transplanted in the U.S. Here [USA] there is no one culture, but many...no one religion, but many...it is a smorgasbord of thoughts and ideas with the freedom to pick as you wish, as long as you don't hurt anyone or force your ideas on others.
History is in the past, and we can learn from it, but are not bound by it. We live each day as our own, and have the freedom of action to build our own future, if we so choose.
Now, of course, there are the lazy...I won't go there since this is becoming rather "bloggish".
What is your interest in or connection to Wales?

I decided to change my photograph because of the start of The Six Nation's Championship. This is an annual rugby contest between Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy and the Nigels. I'm not much of a nationalist at heart but I do tend to become a feral Welshman when other nations have the temerity to suggest they are our rugby superiors.:¬)
