Hello! Help would be wonderful. We just got back from a second trip to Cymru and it was wonderful! So beautiful and such wonderful people. We concentrated on North Wales and in Conwy(my favorite)happened on the Honey Festival. I bought a piece of Motto wear and would appreciate it if you could translate it. The computer generated ones don't make sense. Gwlad y menyg g Thanks! Susan

Thanks Gaynor, it may not be the same branch. But who knows. I have a pretty good line back to the Rev. War. One person thinks the Martins in Wales came from Martin de Tours from France but have no proof of that either.

This is the first I have seen Martin from Wales. My Martin came to PA in the early 1700's and he ( according to a oral history by my great grandfather) fought and died in the Revolutionary War. Have no proof though. It is thought that his name was Matthias Martin. Also possibly a Llewellyn come over. Marilyn Martin Mort, Warsaw, IN

Hi Gaynor
The Watkins side of my name came from my husband who was a Rhymney man. We farmed above the Heads of the Valley Road above the Rhymney Bridge Roundabout. My maiden name was Pritchard and my parents were farmers in Pant but tyhat farm was knocked down a long time ago and there are houses built there now. You have family in Florida, what part. I live in Ocala which is about 90 minutes fom Orlando

Hi Gaynor,
I am from Merthyr too, but I live in Florida now. I am hoping to go home to Merthyr in May of next year, in fact I have already booked the flight. I was born in Pant out side Merthyr and lived in Dowlais for a few years. I went to Pant school and Cyfarthfa.

Hi Gaynor! My mother's family were Jones (mainly Henry's) who came to USA in 1760 or so. In process of finding out where in Wales. My husband and I were in Wales last year and loved it. I wish we could just come back and stay. We live in Ohio but have a cottage in Pennsylvania that we are closing for the winter this weekend! I also enjoy Florida(water and sun) so when I read your blog I just thought we had some things in common! Best wishes! Susan

Rugby widow

You can tell the rugby season has started. I have been sent to the attic by my husband and daughter. Not so bad up here as this is where the computer room is . I always watch the anthem being played before the game but am considered by my family to be a bad omen for the game, they could be right as almost every game I watched Wales lost!!
As usual I watched the anthem being played and there was the surge of love for my country and pride. The stadium is packed with red and green and the singing s… Continue
