About Me:
My great-grandparents, William Powell and Maria Lewis, were born in South Wales and last lived in Penclawdd, situated on the north shore of the Gower Penninsula, in the county Glamorgan before immigrating to the U.S. I am the first generation to not return to Cymru for a visit. I hope to rectify that in the next couple of years.

Hello again The information regarding Arthur is the same as I have. David Lewis and Richard Lewis his son who still live in Penclawdd would know who is who on the pictures you have, and I feel sure they could identify them for you. My Aunty Nancy is going down to Penclawdd to visit them and I am sure she will be very excited to tell them that they could contact you regarding the family tree [if that is ok by you]. I will leave you my email address [sash@value.net.nz] I Was born in N.Z. but lived in the U.K. for about 10 years went to visit the family in Wales and stayed longer than I planed. Hope to hear from you soon
Regards
Daireen

Hi Harold, Nice to see a Powell on the site. A longshot that we could be related. My gggrandfather (John Powell) was born in Caermarthensire, Wales in 1813 and was a miner by occupation. He visited the States in 1863. Returned in 1865 & worked in the mines in Lackawanna, PA. In 1867 his wife Elizabeth Williams and 6 of their 11 children moved to the states (5 remained in Wales) My ggrandfather Dan Powell, born in in 1853 in Blaina, Monmouthshire, South Wales. My grandmother, Annie Powell Oswald often spoke to me of her father (Dan) when I was a youngster. I have often thought of the rest of the Powell family (5) that remained in Wales and their children and grandchildren. One of these days I'll have to take a trip to Wales. JCO

Last year we had a visiting rugby team in from Newport/Casnewydd, Wales - Pill Harriers RFC. They played (and destroyed) Springfield Rugby. Though I believe Springfield has beaten them in the past. My wife and I got to hang out with them later in their stay (drinking downtown), it was a lot of fun.

Haven't done any of the Frisco Highline Trail (www.friscohighlinetrail.org) yet. Most of my cycling is in town or MTB trails. We'd like to get up that way and do the Katy trail some time. I had plans to do the part near Augusta and Dutzow a couple years back but it snowed! We settled for the wineries instead. Not a bad way to spend a few days.

Well, Mothergooseberry and I are here in Chicago for NAFOW's Gymanfa Ganu. It's been raining all morning but the weather looks great for the upcoming weekend! Fflur Dafydd is performing tonight and we're looking forward to the concert.
