About Me:
Lengthy Welsh ancestry here in the Chicagoland area, as well as Irish, Scots and Norwegian/Scandinavian. My family paternal surname is Jones.

I am 29(I'm now 30...yikes), male, and live in the far west suburb of Montgomery. Most of my work experience has been in some area of public safety, and the trades.

I am an avid bagpipe player, I enjoy golf, shooting on occassion, excercise when time allows, the outdoors, and tasting as much beer as I possibly can. I am also very close to family and friends, and enjoy as much time spent with them as possible. Oh yes, and I love Welsh heritage and culture. I belong to the Welsh Tafia of Chicago. Any questions, or if you're in the neighborhood and would like to have a pint or two, I love meeting new people. Drop me a note. I am on the border of Aurora.
What is your interest in or connection to Wales?
Welsh American

Joel,

Sorry I missed your post, it has been a hectic year.

I don't suppose you have found any bagpipe books that can be played on the 9 note chanter (Highland bagpipes, I also have shuttle pipes)?

If your se3rching to any OLD tune, I use to collect, I have about 150 books pre 1975. ABout 23 or more that aren't even in Pekkar's, that is another project, they want the whole book and I'll have to copy one for them, as some of these books I've never seen another one of, and they aren't in the Bagpipe or book library publications, like the Kilberry book, that was written and printed in Pakistan, though I have seen three of them now, and owned two of them, I gifted the second one to another person who naturally tries to keep the old music alive.

Hey man,
Hear you may be visiting the misty isle soon.
You will have a fabulous welcome there my friend. The people are so laid back, massive croeso.
The island of my birth, I have the coast outline on my upper arm on a dragon carrying a leek, it probably needs re colouring now, twenty years old tatoo.
I was born and bred in a parish called Llandrygarn next to Llechynfarwydd slap bang in the centre of the island.
If your family roots ar there, the same blood should run in our veins Joel.

Yeah, Austin's music scene is very note worthy. That's the only thing I like about this place really. I like Chicagoland in summer and occassionaly get up there to visit my brother Tim and sister Trinda and her family. I always have a good time in Chicago! Tommy :)

Hi there, Joel!
Sorry I didn't reply sooner--raining here like heck!
Oh the piping competition in Waukesha next year? I'll try and make it up there--just let me know when it'll be!
Well, you know that if you should ever try to make it here to my neck of the woods, you'll be very welcome here by me and i'd like to show you around! Lake Geneva has lots of things to see and do and so do the surrounding communities! That's why maybe a bagpipe show by you would be nice and--if needed--I'll help you out by tappin on the bodhran or spoons or anything else! Now--I only need a bodhran and some lessons and I'm in business(my son Ian who is a drummer and percussionist would think I'm nuts for telling you that but hey, not a bad idea if i had to do it! learn bodhran, that is)!
Anyway--Kilwin's Chocolates in downtown LG makes great yummy fudge, too, just waiting for you to sample!
Well keep them pipes playing and I'll catch ya later!
Cheers!

Hi Joel,
Thanks for the comment, it was taken for some production at Clwyd Theatre Cymru, and I thought it would be a good publicity shot. The girl singing Calon Lan is Sian, do you know her? I worked with her once a long time ago. She's a lovely girl with a fantastic voice.
Why aren't there any videos of you piping?
Huw
