Shw mae.. That was my attempt at sarcasm (and self-deprecation).. Hamilton, Ontario is notoriously dirty, smelly, and awful at times.. Hamilton is one of the last and only Canadian rust belt cities.. like Detroit, Flint, etc.

"There is the Brecon Grill in Saline, Michigan. It's more of a restaurant but it definitely has a Welsh theme, as Saline is Brecon's Sister City."

Hi Lisa, do you have an address/website for this pub? I am putting together a list of Welsh connections around the US and would like to add it and get in touch with the owners too.

Hwyl

I just finished listening to "Cwm Rhondda", then I clicked on your profile... Oh, what a small world it is!

You live in Michigan?-- Ew!! I live in a city that's fresh and clean-- Hamilton, Ontario! My family escaped the black coal pits to live in the blackened steel mills-- Evolution!

Hi Lisa
Llangynwyd is not far from us (about 8 miles) it has one of the oldest pubs in Wales there & i'm told it has some of the best bar meals around !!!
Are you planning to visit Bridgend & the Rhondda during your next visit to Wales ?
My Husband Colin (next comment down) has also done some work on his family tree, he's been able to go back to the mid 19C . Have you seen any of the census records you can get on line they are really interesting & also give an idea of the social condtions of the time ! better get going it's getting late over here.

My great, great grandfather John Powell was born 1813 in Caermarthensire, Wales, his wife Elizabeth Williams also a native of Wales had 11 children. 4 sons and 2 daughters (including my g grandfather Dan Powell) came to Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania in 1867. 5 remained behind in Wales. Dan was born January 10, 1853 in Blaina, Monmouthshire, South Wales. I have some history but want to learn so much more about my Welsh heritage. I hope through networking I will learn more about my family and Wales.

Hello Lisa hope you are well. We live in Pencoed which is a small town outside Bridgend. My wife Leanne is from the Rhondda. We visited New York and Boston in May of this year and we both loved America.
