Relationship Status:
It's Complicated
About Me:
Dysgwyr Cymraeg ydw i. Roedd fy nhaid o Gymro.
I'm interested in Welsh language, genetics, culture, traditional land uses and ethnobotany. I do Permaculture Design and create and maintain forest gardens. I'm hedleynedley on Skype if you've got some patience for a learner. Dw i'n tiemlo lwcus i fod rhan o gymuned hon. (correct?)

I still work on my Division III garden establishment project, which helped me graduate recently from Hampshire College.

A long term goal of mine is to teach Permaculture through the medium of Welsh. I want to help create forest gardens (and teach about them) in order to help struggling communities produce a diversity of foods and useful goods which require little maintenance to produce for years. A number of traditional perennial Welsh wild food crops are promising as contributions to forest garden ecosystems (hazel, gooseberry, wild leek, sea kale and sorrel).
There are strong connections between language, culture, communities, and locally produced food. I believe there is great potential to reinvigorate communities and local economies by investing in perennial agriculture and designed ecosystems. The opportunity for "green" job creation gives the concept added relevance to current policy discussions.

I welcome discussion and inquiry on these themes.

I'm in Wales this summer to take Welsh courses and visit my great auntie Gwen for her 92nd birthday! I will also be investigating what I can about traditional Welsh cuisine and historical perennial agriculture practices. I visited Bangor Forest Garden to seek out connections, learn about the founding of the garden there and share useful information and resources.
Check out the Bangor Forest Garden website: www.thebfg.org.uk/

Dw i'n gweithio yn Aberaeron am deg diwrnod. Ro'n i ceisio bara lawr ond mae'n rhaid i mi bwyta bara lawr ffresh rwan, dim allan o can.

Thanks very much but I want to be clear that I only did the design of the dragon/flag - you make graphics, upload them to cafepress and the print it on stuff for you. I remembered that you said you liked that design best so I'm doing a larger, clearer one and putting that one more stuff in the eisteddfod store. I make most of our graphics, such as they are ;)

Hey, Ned! I'm doing a yard landscaping design for some friends - can you recommend a good book on the basics - they have a wooden fence and I want to do a combo native plant and forest garden for them (including some walking stick kale, dying to try that!) and one thing I thought of is how close can I get to the fence? stuff like that. Diolch!
