Couldn't agree more... I recently received a copy of 'Dreaming a City: From Wales to Ukraine' by Colin Thomas which is an account of the making of the 1992 documentary 'Hughesovka and the New Russia' which Gwyn narrated. You can find it online here.…

About Me:
Of Welsh descent, pro-Welsh, and seeking to stir things up a little bit;here's one girl you won't see hanging around the old "fuddy-duddies" out there who keep sporting the welsh flag at dinners and meetings, but won't do anything more about BEING Welsh except to hold more meetings, more dinners, and won't care to implement new ideas to generate a more "living persona" of the group to the outside world.

"Phhhhhpppppppttt....!" (blowing an raspberry!) To be honest, desk paperweights are far more useful and attractive objects in and of themselves compared to some individuals in organizations I've beheld in past years -and that's why I came to Americymru...to be with all of you who are "doing something" and not sitting about vegetating. I thank you for your company!

By now, you may have guessed I'm a political conservative... willing to risk speaking "incorrectly" when occasion calls for it; however, I'm not actively involved with any political organizations at the moment. I like listening to my political radio shows, but not 10 hours a day, mind you.

I live in New York, am a professional Fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Relief Foundation. I am also a textile artist. Or should I say craftswoman? I prefer artist, really, because there was a time centuries ago when the two were not separate from each other. I work with yarns and designs. I am also an art school graduate since 1983. I am now working on a portfolio of pieces that reflect landscapes, and even some wearables within a historical tradition, with a Welsh, Scottish or Celtic theme

With all this stress in the City, I do make time to go out and see my kids who live in Pennsylvania. They are ages 17 and 10, and I am taking every opportunity I can to introduce them to Welshness and what the Welsh have contributed to civilisation.
What is your interest in or connection to Wales?
My Great-Great Grandmother, and an instinctive "Hiraith"

Peace and blessings to your home!

I have been down from the Net for a while because I have moved to west New York state. I will try to answer question as I know from my own personal study. Keep in mind that Church whether it be EOC or RC do not not want to talk to much on the origins outside of their own preset explanations, which can not be challenged from my past experience. Do not get me wrong, I am thankful to the Almighty for my time in learning among them, until The Almighty brought me to the next level of understanding. In order to know where we are going we have to fully know where we came from and that is not portrayed accurately in the traditions of Church bias.

May Yeshua bless you

Having not actually been to any Welsh-American society functions, I don't have any personal experience with their shortcomings, but I must say that the descriptions of them haven't piqued my interest enough for me to get involved. I want to brainstorm activities, discussions, or anything that is interesting and engaging for these events. Welsh Americans are here to stay, so we might as well develop engaging, uplifting and stimulating events that have to do with our shared experience and "real Wales." I appreciate your fire.

I like you.... What the hell is it with some Welsh groups? Wales has is a nutty country with more talent that you can shake a stick at unyet the majority of the groups seem to be on a mission to send you to sleep at their events... Move to Chicago luv, we have got a good Welsh group here;)

On January 19th, we are holding a concert at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center featuring premieres by famed Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, who is currently Britain's largest-selling contemporary classical music composer. More information is available on http://www.DCINY.org. We would love to see you there!
