I have been writing poetry for four years. I stay home with my daughter, and I work part-time as a math tutor and poetry writing instructor for kids. I am American, but I lived in Britain for three years in the early 1990s, and I wish I could travel there again.

Calennig, New Year's Decoration

Hi Everyone:

This is my first attempt at a "blog post." So apologies in advance if I am failing to follow protocol!

My six-year-old daughter (Laura) and I both made calennigs, decorated New Year's apples. Every year we do this activity, and it has become a highlight of New Year's Eve. I don't know if this is still done in Wales, but it is a fun and easy craft.

You need:
An apple
Sprigs of mint
Cloves
Skewers or toothpicks
Glue (optional)
