- My name is Tim. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, I have lived and worked in Chicago for about 10 years now. I work as an Administrative Assistant at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. Like most people, I have a sort of love-hate relationship with my job. I live with my partner Russ, who I met 2 years ago. He's awesome!!! I became interested in all things Welsh when I was a boy after talking to my father,Wayne A. Lloyd (who, along with my brothers, Tom and Ty, is also a member of this website), and my late Grandfather , Thomas Edgar Lloyd, about family history. At the moment, I am intermittently trying to learn the beautiful language of my forefathers (Cymraeg). It's a work in progress and an extreme challenge for me, but I think it will prove to be well worth the effort as I hope to go to Cymru for an extended visit and if my destiny calls for it, move/live there. I am a member of the Chicago Tafia Welsh Society and am inevitably the only member who wears an actual leek on my jacket on St. David's Day, thus providing a good chuckle for all who participate. Imagine the looks I get while riding public transportation to the celebrations! An acquaintance of mine who is actually from Wales once said that growing up, his parents would basically force their kids to follow this tradition and he was absolutely amazed that I choose to do it. I don't know, call me crazy, call me proud, call me Welsh! Besides, since I am at the front desk in a very busy office, it's quite a conversation starter!!!! Anyway, that leek is the first thing I throw into a pot of leek soup after St. David's is finished! Incidentally, I make a damn good leek soup!!! I love music, poetry, people and of course, a good peint o cwrw. Any questions? Feel free to ask!!! By the way, that's me on the left, although Russ is quite a looker and of Welsh descent, too. Good luck and good love with Russ. Keep your fingers crossed for us that our marriage survives the Nov. election. There's a proposition on our ballot to amend out constitution to delegalize it. Could possibly become the first time in California history that someone's legal rights were actually TAKEN away by a constitutional amendment!

I just joined this group, posted my profile with a bit of trepidation with mention of my partner an then stumbled upon your post. I live in California so I was actually able to click on the "married" button since Kym and I were LEGALLY married on June 17th. I hope for the same for you and your sweetie some day soon.
Do you have any feel for how the Welsh are as a whole on the gay issue? I too would like to someday visit the land of my ancestors and wonder what the climate would be like for us.
