my great-grandfather's name was E.D. Lloyd -- i have lots of sheet music for pieces that he wrote and apparently my uncle has a letter sent to him from none other than David Lloyd George thanking him for a piece that I believe he wrote in his honor (or something to that effect). he was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog but conducted most of his musical activities in the Bangor area until eventually making his way to the States. my mother knows how to play many of his pieces and, were it not for a horrifically out-of-tune piano, she'd play them more often. they're simple (most are meant for intermediate learners) but very catchy.

I worked quite a bit over the border. When I'd start a new job I loved spelling out the name of the village to English people - no one would believe me!
